Attention plumbers - your customers can get $500 plus GST ($575) back when they install a heat pump water heater. The new EECA scheme will provide an ENERGYWISE grant paid by cash back claim to the heat pump supplier on all qualified systems paid through your system supplier.
This amount is due to increase from 1 July 2011 to $1000 plus GST for higher performing systems
There are three criteria that your customers must meet to qualify for the $500 grant:
1. Pre-approval is required. Just phone the system supplier for your approval number and write that on the claim form you give to your customer.
2. Purchase a heat pump water heater that has been accepted for the scheme (an eligible product) and they must agree to have an electricity meter and a water meter installed with the product by a qualified tradesperson if requested by EECA.
3. They will need to complete a claim form which must have system details included along with the approval number. They will have to show the consent number on the claim if one is required by the particular local authority.
