EECA announces $1000 Pilot Scheme for HPWH
Tuesday, 31 March 2009
Attention plumbers - your customers can get $1000 back when they install a heat pump water heater. EECA is running a pilot scheme to gather information about how well heat pump water heaters perform in real operating conditions in New Zealand households and businesses. EECA will provide an ENERGYWISETM grant in two payments of $500 to customers who install an eligible heat pump water heater and agree to take part in the information gathering stage of the scheme.
There are two criteria that your customers must meet to qualify for the $1000 grant:
1. Purchase a heat pump water heater that has been accepted for the pilot scheme (an eligible product) and have an electricity meter and a water meter installed with the product by a qualified tradesperson.
2. Provide EECA with three separate monthly electricity and water meter readings after the installation and complete a customer survey as part of the last meter reading. The readings and survey can be done by phone or email.
The water and electricity meters that must be fitted at the time of installation are provided with eligible heat pump water heaters*, along with full instructions on how to take part in the funding scheme and collect payment. Visit EECA’s website at www.energywise.govt.nz for a list of eligible HPWH products that have been accepted by EECA for the pilot scheme, and the suppliers that provide them. Visit www.nzhwa.org.nz for a list of members of the NZHWA who have products that are eligible for the pilot scheme.
*Unless the system is sold under Phase 2 of the scheme
